Suffolk University invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Director, Facilities Services. Reporting to the Director of Construction and Facilities Services, assists in the oversight of contracted operations services including maintenance, repair, cleaning, grounds management, moving services and event support. Track space use, manage furniture surplus and replacement and coordinate moves. Provide leadership for campus sustainability efforts. Monitor, track and provide regular reports on all operations activities and issues. Assist in the development of the yearly campus capital improvement plan. Perform other duties within the broader Campus Services division as required and provide supervision and direction to consultants and student staff as needed.
Assist the Director in the overall Department responsibility for the operation, and maintenance of the campus facilities
Evaluate the effectiveness of services to the campus and develop and recommend methods of improvement of these services
Conduct regular campus and building inspections
Monitor the standard of cleanliness in campus buildings
Resolve customer issues and complaints
Meet on a regular basis with the operations director and managers for the purpose of reviewing the activities of the department and to provide guidance and direction for the attainment of the University's goals and objectives
Monitor and approve requests for reimbursable service
Assist the Director in preparing the yearly operations budget
Implement and maintain campus signage and way finding systems
Space and Asset Management
Create and maintain University space use database
Coordinate interoffice moves and other relocations
Work with individuals to lay out office furniture plans
Ensure all campus plans are up to date and reflect existing conditions
Create and maintain surplus furniture database
Organize furniture replacement/repair projects and installations
Assist departments with selection of furniture and coordination of ordering, scheduling and installation
Assist with campus sustainability program and initiatives
Monitor energy usage and costs
Develop and assist in the implementation of an effective energy conservation program
Work closely with faculty, academic staff and students to minimize impact of conservation measures on educational programs and activities
Coordinate the recycling efforts of the University
Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three to five years of directly related experience
Experience in higher education preferred
Experience in building operations, maintenance and cleaning
Proficient in working with computers, Microsoft Office and maintenance management related software, Auto Cad
Knowledge of maintenance and cleaning methods and materials
Experience and commitment to sustainable maintenance and operations practices
Ability to compile and analyze data
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills including the ability to set and adjust priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all people
Excellent listening and responding skills
Able to work both independently and as part of a team
